My inspiration for these “windows” is an interest in creating highly decorative work.
Much like the Renaissance old masters painted a window in their composition as a way of looking at the outside world, my paintings in this series focus on iconic images of our landscapes.
This particular piece received a Merit Award in a statewide show. I created it to showcase an everyday view of the river by framing it in a Renaissance triptych format. It was initially shown in a fundraising benefit for RiverLink, a local organization working to improve the riverfront of the French Broad in Asheville, NC.
